Enjoy a Bite at The Maker Cafe
Perfect for any time of day, enjoy an indulgent lunch or snack at The Maker Cafe, reminiscent of the coffeehouses of Europe. The cafe offers homemade bread and pastries from Bartlett House beside selections of classic cocktails, and a delicious menu of salads and sandwiches. We highly recommend the turkey, bacon, and avocado sandwich as well as the fried chicken sandwich after working up an appetite antiquing.
Explore The Perfume Library
As day turns to night, explore the unique Perfume Library, a personal collection of scents from Lev Glazman, The Maker founder and Fragrance Architect. With a range of fragrances for any mood, find the perfect scent to compliment the night’s adventures before heading to The Maker Lounge tucked away inside a restored 19th-century carriage house with leather-clad walls & grand ceilings.

With the launch of their new fragrance collection, you can now order cocktails inspired by each of The Maker’s signature fragrances for a full sensory experience. Every sip and detail is thoughtfully considered down to the beautifully designed glasses, which you can purchase from The Maker online store to savor long after your stay.
Indulge in Inspired Seasonal Fare at The Maker Restaurant
After sipping a craft cocktail to your content, dine in the exquisite Maker Restaurant serving seasonal plates from Executive Chef Michael Poirkoff with an emphasis on locality & community. The creation of every dish is approached with a playful curiosity featuring locally-sourced, fresh ingredients from a diverse array of dedicated Hudson Valley farms & purveyors that guide an evolving menu of contemporary American fare. Available for dinner Thursday through Sunday and brunch on the weekend, we recommend making a reservation prior to your stay.
Enjoy a Fireside Nightcap or Seek Hummingbirds in the Rose Room
After dinner, relax by the living room fireplace with a nightcap or search for the hidden hummingbirds in the handpainted wallpaper of the Rose Room. The iconic wallpaper was designed by founder, Alina Roytberg, in collaboration with Catskill-based illustrator, Victoria Maxfield, who painted the subversive roses and hummingbirds in different combinations on oil on canvas before Roytberg added the additional design elements which give the wallpaper its depth and mural-like presence.
Wake Up Your Playful Side at the Gymnasium
No trip to The Maker is complete without enjoying a refreshing smoothie or juice and sneaking in a workout at The Gymnasium, a playful space for the exploration of the mind and body. The Gymnasium integrates the exercise traditions of the acrobat, the bodybuilder, and the modern exercise enthusiast.
Whether you’re seeking romance, a little me-time, or simply time to reconnect with friends and family, The Maker has it all.
The Rooms
The Hudson boutique hotel is an inviting and intimate sanctuary with 11 spacious rooms nestled throughout three historic buildings: an 1800’s Carriage House, a Georgian mansion, and a Greek Revival building. Thoughtfully curated rooms bring an eclectic, bohemian spirit to the space where surprise and delight details await at every turn. The 11 distinct rooms include the Maker Studios, Terrace Lofts, Two-Bedroom Suite, Corner Studio (king room), and Bedrooms (queen rooms), including an Accessible room.
After a day exploring Hudson, relax and refresh with Fresh and Malin+Goetz beauty products before slipping into a soft linen robe by Society Limonta. Raid the gourmet mini-bar menu of house-made treats from Executive Chef Michael Poirkoff and lounge with a loved one by your in-room fireplace or curl up with a book in a cozy nook. After a night out on the town, sprawl out in your lush bed with a Zen Haven organic mattress topped with goose-down pillows and a duvet by Downtown Company for a deep night’s sleep.
The next morning, rise and shine to Eye Opener service with complimentary coffee and pastries delivered right to your door.
The Studios
The four Maker Studios are inspired by the world of distinct makers. Located in the historic Georgian Mansion building, these expansive rooms have living areas and fireplaces with spectacular details. Every studio has a unique personality and a captivating story to tell.
The Architect
The Architect Studio imagines the world of an architect’s living space in the 1940’s and their vision of modern design.
I recently stayed in The Architect Studio and loved lounging by the black granite fireplace, relaxing in the deep soaking Roman tub spacious enough for two, and perusing the architectural design books sprinkled throughout the unique mid-century modern bookcase.
The Artist Studio
The inspiration behind the Artist Studio is the integration of a work and living space. Covered in eclectic artwork from the founder Glazman’s private collection, including art from Francisco Zunig, The Artist Studio is the ultimate bohemian refuge. The inspiring studio features a living area with a hand-carved fireplace and antique limestone and Moorish tile bathroom. Complete with a rainfall shower and clawfoot tub, relax with a deep soak while gazing at the original stained-glass panel.
The Writer Studio
If you’re suffering from writer’s block or simply need inspiration, The Writer Studio suite expresses the curiosity of the author. Filled with a library of books, personal mementos from travel adventures, and curio objects, it’s a cozy retreat that will leave you inspired. Lounge in your own personal living room with an original oak fireplace and built-in bookcases from the 1800’s featuring hand-selected books from the NYC Strand.
The Gardener Studio
The space captures the mindset of The Gardener, inspired by late 19th-century iron garden pavilions where the exterior and interior blend seamlessly together. Wrought iron, normally reserved for outdoors, is blended with soft furnishings and various flora art to create a lush evocative space. Unique touches include a cast iron screen made from the grilles of 1908 Beaux-Arts Singer tower, and an antique Eastlake cast iron chandelier from 1870’s.
Rooms and Suites
From an Apartment Suite perfect for families or groups to Terrace Lofts with private balconies, inspiration comes in many forms at The Maker Hudson.
The Apartment
The Apartment features Mid-Century decor with vibrant earth tones and the modernist lines of Scandinavian design. Ideal for families or small groups, this residential suite invites intimate gatherings and relaxation.
Amidst an extensive art collection, standout features include a 1940’s vanity table set by Gilbert Rhode for Herman Miller and a rare oversized Italian 1950’s spider ceiling light.
The Corner Studio
Inspired by the sophisticated glamor of classic Hollywood movies, The Corner Studio resembles an elegant set. With an abundance of windows and sunlight, the allure of this spacious room is punctuated with vintage photography, including a rare portrait of Joan Crawford.
The Terrace Lofts
Reminiscent of bohemian rooftop studios in 1920’s Paris, the light-filled Terrace Lofts feature dormer windows and French doors leading into terraces with outdoor seating. These lofts are casual and airy, filled with eclectic art and a giant daybed that invites afternoon naps, late-night conversations, or a date with a book.
The Bedrooms
The Bedrooms feature a queen-sized bed and intimate decor that echoes the bohemian spirit of the eclectic textures and tones throughout the property.
Perfect for a cozy couple or independent traveler, The Bedrooms feature a sitting area, rainfall shower, and original art to inspire you each morning.
What Makes it Uncommon At A Glance
Original Detail
To ensure that the unique character and historic charm of the property greet each and every guest, the team behind this project preserved original architectural elements throughout the property such as breathtaking fireplaces in several guest rooms, wood flooring, decorative stain glass, foyer mosaic tiles, hand-painted ceilings, and more. Every room is completely unique and has a story to tell.
An Ode to Makers
A true love letter to makers and artisans, the property embodies the work of local Hudson Valley craftsmen at every turn. Sixth-generation master furniture restorer Gary Keegan rebuilt original fireplace mantles, antiques, and custom furniture; artist Michael Allen, painted an ethereal mural inspired by the Hudson Valley landscape on burlap in The Conservatory; and lighting designer Steven McKay worked with the team to create custom light fixtures throughout the property. We love a hotel that lives up to its name, and the team behind The Maker has created a canvas for the unique charm of Hudson and its local artisans to truly shine.
Vintage Treasures & Unique Art
The Maker itself is a work of art with vintage pieces making up over 70% of the property’s decor, and the personal art collection of founder Lev Glazman adorning the walls throughout the property’s intimate spaces. The result is a story of worldly travels and whimsical adventures exuding from every detail of The Maker while also lessening the environmental impact of the property – utilizing vintage pieces where possible and upcycled design elements. We love the eco-conscious design philosophy behind the decor that lends itself to special moments without forgetting sustainability.
Personal Touches at Every Turn
From the Perfume Library where guests can explore founder Lev Glazman’s favorite fragrances to the Eye Opener service delivering coffee and treats to guests’ rooms each morning, we love the personalized touches and the surprise and delight moments The Maker delivers.
Take the Experience Home
The Maker also offers custom-designed fragrances, candles, and pieces for purchase to bring the magic of The Maker Hudson home with you. Examples include custom beds designed by Glazman with architect Kipp Edick, which are a modern interpretation of antique French Louis XV style beds made in Portugal; customized Italian linen robes by Society Limonata; cocktail glasses designed by Nude Glass in Istanbul; and a line of custom fragrances from The Maker itself. We love the Ribbed High Ball Glasses that can be used for cocktails or simply sipping water in style.
