The Best 2024 Met Gala Gowns from The Red Carpet
Discover the stunning gowns from the 2024 Met Gala red carpet (or shall we say green this year).
Celebrities gathered at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York on Monday evening for the annual Met Gala. The glamorous event serves as a fundraiser for the museum’s Costume Institute and is chaired by Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, Chris Hemsworth, and Anna Wintour. The theme for this year, “The Garden of Time,” drew inspiration from J.G. Ballard’s 1962 dystopian short story of the same title and the upcoming Met Exhibit “Sleeping Beauties Reawakening Fashion.” The star-studded guest list embodied the theme with arresting looks featuring floral and botanical elements, alongside inventive representations of organic decay.
Every look on the red carpet had unique details and artful elements. Designer Harris Reed accompanied Demi Moore, showcasing her gown featuring 11,000 hours of silk embroidery crafted from vintage wallpaper. Reed described the design as a Victorian concept of Moore blossoming on the red carpet, adorned with thorns, representing a flower at its peak bloom.
Mindy Kaling wore a stunning sculptural dress by Indian designer Gaurav Gupta titled “the melting flower of time” while Elle Fanning’s Balmain gown featured sheer sleeves that seemed to be lifted by birds, crafted from resin to create a glass-like appearance. Other stunning looks included Ayo Edebiri who wore a custom lace Loewe dress that was hand-painted and embroidered to create an optical illusion of 3D flowers and Kendall Jenner who debuted a never-worn vintage Haute Couture Givenchy dress.

Anna Wintour
We could never forget the woman that made it all happen – Anna Wintour. She wore a custom floral Loewe look inspired by a 1944 evening cape by designer Charles James. Tailored in wool with a silk satin shawl collar, the tuxedo is decorated with floral motifs using hand-dyed feathers, tonal beading and pearl embroidery.
